In 1995 I was the first American artist to do a cultural exchange with Vietnam, which took place just before our two countries re-established diplomatic relations.
I returned with two Vietnamese people as one-year visitors: an emerging artist and a national fine arts professional.
In 1997 I was among the first American artists to work with South African artists during the first year of Independence and the new RSA constitution ending apartheid.
Most of my duett painting partners were musicians, well-used to working collaboratively in an intimate compositional medium.
I have since worked with artists (and musicians, dancers, poets, designers and photographers) from over a dozen countries and other cultures.
